All-New 2012 Toyota Yaris

With the right size for drivers who need an agile and functional vehicle, the all-new 2012 Toyota Yaris Liftback arrives this fall with sporty styling, outstanding safety features and improved fuel economy.

“There is a lot of excitement in the subcompact category today, but the all-new 2012 Toyota Yaris is at the top of the list when it comes to combining value and fuel efficiency with style and fun,” said Toyota Division Group Vice President and General Manager Bob Carter. “Today’s young, price-conscious shoppers want the complete package that the new Yaris offers: room for their friends and gear, along with a strong list of standard convenience and safety features.”

The all-new Yaris features a remarkable attention to detail in the design and engineering of the vehicle. From its smart, interior design and quiet, refined passenger cabin to its responsive driving dynamics, the 2012 Yaris answers car-shoppers’ demands for a no-compromise vehicle.

Liftback for Today’s Lifestyles

Today, liftback body styles dominate the subcompact vehicle segment, preferred by 70 percent of new retail car buyers in this category. The new Yaris Liftback has been completely redesigned for 2012, featuring a more sporty, aggressive look. The wheelbase has been lengthened by two inches, to 98.8 inches, with the overall length of the vehicle growing by 2.9 inches, to 153.5 inches. The height of the new Yaris is also reduced by 0.6 inches for a stance that is both lower and longer. The result is up to 68 percent more cargo room along with additional headroom and passenger volume, all within a highly aerodynamic body yielding a 0.30 coefficient of drag.

The 2012 Yaris is equally at home navigating through city traffic, heading to the mall or hitting the highway for a road trip. With a tight turning circle and quick, responsive steering, the new Yaris is easy to maneuver on crowded streets and parks in tight spots.

Grade Strategy

The new Yaris will be offered in three grades, with the entry-level L and value-packaged LE editions available either as a three-door liftback or five-door liftback. The sport-tuned SE is available only as a five-door. Standard equipment levels have been improved across all grades while simplifying options to make it easier for customers to find the car they want at an affordable price.

Emphasis on Driving and Performance

The all-new Yaris was designed for fun and functionality. Both three-door and five-door models are powered by a 1.5-liter, 16-valve, four-cylinder DOHC engine equipped with variable valve timing with intelligence (VVT-i), producing 106 hp at 6,000 rpm and 103 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,200 rpm. The broad torque curve provides plenty of response for both manual transmission and automatic transmission vehicles.

All Yaris L, LE and SE models are available with a new four-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission, featuring a more compact, lighter-weight design and reduced friction for greater fuel efficiency. A smooth-shifting five-speed manual transmission is available on L and SE models only.

For the all-new Yaris, both the front MacPherson-strut and rear torsion-beam suspension have been tuned to deliver a better ride and improved driving feel. The front stabilizer bar has been increased to 24.2 mm (0.95 in.). Standard tire sizes are increased as well to 15-inch on L and LE versions, and 16-inch on the SE.

Electric power steering provides good road feel at highway speeds while aiding low-speed parking maneuvers.

Nine Standard Airbags Lead Impressive List of Safety Features

Starting with nine standard airbags, the all-new Yaris offers an impressive array of safety features. Standard driver and front-passenger dual-stage airbags (SRS) are complemented by front-seat mounted side airbags and a knee airbag for the driver. Roll-sensing side airbags are fitted to both front- and rear-row seats for a total of nine airbags.

In common with all Toyota vehicles, the Yaris features Toyota’s Star Safety System™, which includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist. The new Yaris also features Smart Stop Technology, Toyota’s brake-override system, as standard.

New to the 2012 Yaris is Toyota’s Advanced Whiplash Injury-Lessening (WIL) front-seat structure. The design helps to ensure that all areas from the head to the lower back are equally supported, helping to reduce whiplash-type injuries during certain types of collisions.

The new Yaris features an impact-absorbing body structure utilizing high-tensile strength steel to effectively distribute collision forces.

For the first time, Toyota has engineered a single-windshield wiper with wet-arm system for reduced weight and better performance. The system sprays washer fluid from the base of the wiper arm directly in the path of the blade for improved cleaning and wiping action.

Comprehensive List of Standard Features

In addition to its many safety features, all Yaris models are well equipped with popular comfort, convenience and technology features.

Starting with the Yaris L, all models include standard electric power steering, power-assisted ventilated front disc brakes, power door locks and Cold Weather Package. Other standard features include air conditioning, six cup and bottle holders, and storage cover for the cargo area. Halogen headlamps and intermittent front windshield wiper are also standard.

All models also feature full audio connectivity via USB and auxiliary ports, along with a standard AM/FM/CD player with MP3 and WMA playback compatibility. LE and SE models feature an audio system with HD radio, six speakers and Bluetooth music streaming technology.

The Yaris LE includes standard power windows with driver’s auto-down, power mirrors, and a remote keyless entry system with Engine Immobilizer. The steering wheel features audio controls, and cruise control is available as an option on the LE.

Exterior Styling

The bold new design of the 2012 Yaris is longer and lower, with a longer wheelbase. Its assertive presence is visible from all angles, starting with the distinctive protruding front profile with wide headlamps and integrated turn signals.

The side profile displays a steeply sloped beltline, and flowing curves that appear to stretch the image of the vehicle. The shoulder lines continue around to the rear, creating a sharp, solid look.

Eight colors are available for the new Yaris, including Super White, Classic Silver Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Black Sand Pearl, Absolutely Red, Lagoon Blue Mica, Wave Line Pearl and Blazing Blue Pearl.

Interior Design

The interior has been completely redesigned on the new Yaris, providing a level of detail not often seen on cars in this price class. The doors close with a smooth, solid feel. Additional sound-absorbing and insulating materials make for a quieter ride. Upgraded fabrics and soft-touch dash highlight a more premium, sporty interior. The front seats are now wider, and sculpted to reduce fatigue on long trips.

The driver experience is heightened with a new tilt three-spoke steering wheel, featuring a thicker grip and a flat-bottom shape to reduce knee interference. The instrument cluster, center-mounted in the previous Yaris, is relocated in front of the driver and includes a multi-instrument display with odometer, twin trip meters, clock, outside temperature reading, fuel economy display, average speed and Eco-Driving indicator.

Yaris L models feature a one-piece folding rear seat, while LE and SE editions include a 60/40 split fold-down rear seat.

The luggage compartment area has been lengthened by 5.7 inches, and widened by 2.1 inches, to increase cargo volume by 64 percent in the 3-door and 68 percent in the 5-door. Cargo capacity with the seat up is 15.3 cu. ft. on the 3-door and 15.6 cu. ft. on the 5-door.

The Sport-Tuned Yaris SE

The Yaris SE provides even more driving fun with its sport-tuned suspension, quicker ratio steering, standout styling and driver-oriented interior. The SE features both front and rear disc brakes, with the front disc nearly an inch larger in diameter than L and LE versions. The SE is equipped with P195/50R16 tires and alloy wheels.

The SE makes a distinctive statement with smoke-trim multi-reflector halogen headlamps, integrated fog lamps and color-keyed grille with sport mesh insert. It features color-keyed front and rear underbody spoilers, rear spoiler and rear diffuser, set off by a chrome exhaust tip and SE badge.

Inside, a sporty instrumentation package faces the driver, with an analog speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, and digital Multi-Instrument Display. The leather-trimmed tilt three-spoke steering wheel includes audio controls and standard cruise control. Exclusive sport seats help add shoulder-level support for more comfort and control. The Yaris SE also includes a six-way adjustable driver’s seat and four-way adjustable passenger seat with sport fabric trim.

Toyota Quality, Warranty and Care

Toyota’s 36-month/36,000 mile basic new-car warranty applies to all components other than normal wear and maintenance items. Additional 60-month warranties cover the powertrain for 60,000 miles and against corrosion with no mileage limitation. The all-new Toyota Yaris will also come standard with Toyota Care, a complimentary plan covering normal factory-scheduled maintenance and 24-hour roadside assistance for two years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Excellent Value Pricing

Yaris will continue to be an excellent value with more than $1,000 of additional standard equipment. Pricing for the all-new 2012 Yaris will be comparable to a previous-generation Yaris with the Convenience Package, with prices of most grades remaining unchanged, making the all-new and improved model a great value versus the previous model.

The base MSRP will range from $14,115 for the L grade three-door liftback with a five-speed manual transmission to $17,200 for the SE grade five-door liftback with a four-speed automatic transmission.

Nuevos motores optimizados para el Mercedes-Benz Clase E 2011

More than ever before, new petrol engines and an optimised powertrain make the 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class the standard for efficiency in its segment. With a combined fuel consumption of only 6.8-7.0 litres and 8.9 litres of premium petrol per 100 kilometres, the E 350 BlueEFFICIENCY and E 500 BlueEFFICIENCY excel as the most economical models in their respective performance classes. Following the introduction of the new BlueDIRECT V6 and V8 models, all petrol and diesel engines in the E-Class now feature direct injection. The reduction in fuel consumption by up to 20 percent is also due to the standard ECO start/stop function and the improved 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission, which is now also available for the four-cylinder variants.

"E" for "Efficiency": this is the well-proven success formula with which the E-Class is again raising the bar, and showing how the intelligent interaction between technical innovations throughout the powertrain can reduce fuel consumption even further. For example, in the E 350 BlueEFFICIENCY a combination of third-generation BlueDIRECT injection, the new 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission and the standard ECO start/stop function has led to a decrease in consumption by 20 percent compared to the preceding model, although peak output has increased by 10 kW/14 hp to 215 kW (306 hp).

This high-tech V6 petrol engine is happy with 6.8-7.0 litres of premium petrol per 100 kilometres in the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle), which corresponds to CO2 emissions of 159-164 g/km. The new E 350 BlueEFFICIENCY sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds. Top speed is 250 km/h (electronically limited).

A comparable leap in efficiency is achieved by the new E 500 BlueEFFICIENCY. Despite a significantly smaller displacement (4633 cc, previously 5461 cc), the biturbo eight-cylinder with BlueDIRECT technology has gained in both output (300 kW/408 hp, previously 285 kW/388 hp) and torque (600 Nm, previously 530 Nm). At the same time its fuel consumption has fallen by around 17 percent from 10.8 to 8.9 l/100 kilometres (NEDC combined). This too is the top figure in this performance class - and is accompanied by superior performance: the new E 500 BlueEFFICIENCY sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in only 5.2 seconds. Top speed is 250 km/h (electronically limited).

Lower fuel consumption: ECO start/stop function and 7G-TRONIC PLUS
This leap in efficiency for the BlueDIRECT engines is assisted by the standard ECO start/stop function, which is now included ex factory in the four-cylinder petrol and diesel models as well. Thanks to direct-start technology, the Mercedes-Benz system for petrol engines operates both immediately and quietly.

The automatic transmission exclusively available for the E-Class in future is 7G-TRONIC PLUS. This comprehensively improved 7-speed automatic transmission is standard equipment in the E 250 BlueEFFICIENCY, E 350 BlueEFFICIENCY and E 500 BlueEFFICIENCY. The features of this latest evolutionary stage include a new torque converter with reduced slip, an ECO shift programme with an improved ratio spread and an auxiliary oil pump to maintain the operating pressure during automatic stops. Low-friction components and low-viscosity fluid help to reduce the operating pressure.

Major leap in efficiency: the four-cylinder diesel engines in the E-Class
Particularly in the four-cylinder variants of the E-Class, the ECO start/stop function and 7G-TRONIC PLUS make for a considerable increase in efficiency. The engine specialists have also optimised the oil pressure control and belt drive, and equipped the turbocharger with a self-regulating compressor.

Result: In the E 220 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY (125 kW/170 hp) and E 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY (150 kW/204 hp) the NEDC consumption CO2 emissions in combination with the 6-speed manual transmission are now only 5.0-5.3 l/100 km and 130-139 g/km. In the automatic version they have fallen by 16 percent to 4.9-5.3 l/100km and 129-138 g CO2/km*. This makes the E 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY the most efficient diesel model in its performance category in the luxury class. Both the 6-speed manual and 7G-TRONIC variants of the 100 kW (136 hp) E 200 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY entry-level diesel now have a combined NEDC fuel consumption of only 5.1-5.4 litres per 100 kilometres (134-141 g CO2/km).

Petrol engines at their finest: E 200 BlueEFFICIENCY and E 250 BlueEFFICIENCY
Updating the powertrain has also led to more fuel efficiency in the four-cylinder petrol engines. The 135 kW (184 hp) E 200 BlueEFFICIENCY with 7G-TRONIC PLUS now has an NEDC consumption of only 6.5-6.9 litres of premium petrol per 100 kilometres (152-160 g CO2/km). The figures with the manual 6-speed transmission are 7.1-7.4 l/100 km (169-176 g CO2/km).

Exclusively equipped with the 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission, the E 250 BlueEFFICIENCY (150 kW/204 hp) has a 13 percent lower NEDC fuel consumption than before at 6.6-7.0 l/100 km. CO2 emissions have fallen to 154-162 g/km. This means that the E 250 BlueEFFICIENCY is likewise at the top of its class with respect to efficiency.

Luxury class with bivalent natural gas drive: E 200 NGT BlueEFFICIENCY
The E 200 NGT BlueEFFICIENCY with bivalent natural gas drive rounds off the comprehensive update to the engine range for the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The 120 kW (163 hp) four-cylinder in the Saloon can be operated on both premium petrol and natural gas. In addition to the petrol tank, three natural gas tanks are safely accommodated in the only bivalent natural gas model in the luxury class - one behind the rear seat backrest and two under the boot floor.

They have a combined capacity of 121.5 litres of natural gas, corresponding to 19.5 kilograms. In natural gas operation, the combined NEDC consumption of the E 200 NGT BlueEFFICIENCY has fallen by 0.6 kilograms to 5.5 kilograms per 100 kilometres. This corresponds to CO2 emissions of 149 grams per kilometre. In petrol mode the combined consumption has been reduced to 8.1 l/100 km.

Nuevo Luxgen Neora eléctrico

LUXGEN shines in the Auto Shanghai 2011 (The 14th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition), with the world premiere of its intelligent electric concept, neora, and the perfect presentations of intelligent technology vehicles: LUXGEN7 SUV, LUXGEN7 CEO, and LUXGEN7 MPV EV+.

Neora integrates LUXGEN’s intelligent technological expertise and the idea of green energy into the new intelligent electric concept. “neora perfectly represents LUXGEN’s brand spirit of Think Ahead, and the new form of appearance will be the design cues for LUXGEN’s upcoming models in the future. Its streamline flow, and the innovation of lightweight, as well as fuel economy, represent the novelty of LUXGEN’s energy saving future technologies. ” said Mr. James Shyr, Executive Vice President of HAITEC from Yulon Group.

“To transform the cold and rigid industrial product into one of the emotional kind” is the origin of the appearance of neora. The brand DNA of LUXGEN, exquisite detail, beyond fashion, chic aesthetic, and innovation, are perfectly integrated on the design of neora, and create a strong visual effect. The unrestrained flows like arrows shooting out are softened with brand DNA and fused into the muscular lines on the side of neora. The streamline flows from the front end to the whole body, and forms into a fresh, bold, and vivid vitality.

The front-wheel-drive intelligent electric neora is propelled by the 180kW electric induction motor. Its body weight is 1,600 kg, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h can be accomplished in 6.5 seconds, with the top speed of 250 km/h. The integrated high-power rechargeable battery can support 80% of the battery charging within only one hour, and the 48 kWh lithium-ion batteries give neora a range of up to 400km when it is fully charged. The enjoyment of the cozy sunshine and scenery views is offered through the PDLC electric glass sunroof. Rear passengers can enjoy the infotainment system through an LED screen, while the driver can enjoy the ergonomic seating and benefit from the convenience of checking important information on the head-up display. Another 9-inch active intelligent information system can exchange information with other vehicles, and on the meantime provide guidance on directions.

In terms of fuel economy, aerodynamics and aesthetics, the design of the front of neora is innovatively revolutionized. The minimum intake area decreases the drag coefficient and achieves both aesthetics and energy-efficiency. A groundbreaking design concept of electric power elements is applied on the headlights, as the illuminating components inside the headlights create the hi-tech visual effect. The larger angle of the rear side lights emphasizes the body lines and its strong characteristics.

“To create inspirations in mobile life” is the design concept of the interior of neora. The commitment of LUXGEN to environmental sustainability is communicated through the integration of natural and technological elements. Recycled wood is used to present the environmentally sustainable concept on both the colours and materials by applying the leather in earth tone colours to match the original wood scheme. The centre console also applies the raw wooden scheme which is originated from non-processed and non-dyed raw materials. Aside from sustainability messages, a natural pure innocence is expressed through the interior design. While using the eco-friendly trims, the combination of the materials and colours carries a clean green future, to which LUXGEN and neora are both committed.

“Genius” is the beginning of all the initiatives of LUXGEN, and “Luxury” enjoyment is the means to fulfill all the needs. “Genius” means to Think Ahead before our customers, and to think for our customers; the intelligent technology of LUXGEN provides a brand new inspiration to everyone. “Luxury” means to Think Ahead on the numerous details, and to care on the humane demands with respect. And a better prospect that LUXGEN is committed to, is becoming a greater reality in the near future.
