MG Motor introducing a special three-year fixed price servicing cover

Customers buying new ’61 plate MG6 GT and MG6 Magnette models will get even better value for money.
MG Motor UK is introducing a special three-year fixed price servicing cover for just £199 on all new MG6 models sold during the new ’61 plate month of September.
It adds even more to an already amazingly strong value-for-money package on the new MGs. They have probably the highest level of standard specification of any cars in their sector on sale today.

The latest MGs also benefit from extremely low insurance group ratings of 13E, and 14E on top TSE models, which reduce premiums for most drivers.
Clint Cordle, MG Motor’s Marketing Manager, said: “The fixed price servicing offer adds to an already very impressive list of cost savings for buyers.
“The MG6 models have a truly fantastic value-for-money package. When you look at all the kit fitted to the cars as standard it’s amazing and would cost up to £6,000 on some competitor vehicles.”
The MG6 GT in TSE specification includes a comprehensive lists of standard equipment including 18-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, iTPMS tyre pressure monitoring, leather sports seats, rear view parking camera with front and rear reversing aids, driver and front passenger electric seat adjustment, heated front seats, automatic dual-zone air conditioning, electronic rain sensing wipers, a built in full colour display sat nav system with full European mapping, RDS radio, CD player, MP3, USB, Aux-in capability and Bluetooth mobile phone integration.
MG6 GT fastback range starts at £15,459 for the S model, £16,995 for the SE and £18,995 for the TSE.
MG6 Magnette four-door sports saloons range from £15,995 for the S, £17,495 for the SE and £19,995 for the TSE.
Both cars have been designed and engineered at MG Birmingham where final assembly also takes place. Currently more than 400 people are employed at the site.

MG returning to international motorsport

MG is returning to international motorsport in an exciting move which could see the iconic marque taking part in the world’s most famous endurance race. MG Motor UK has teamed up with Team RLR, which runs an MG Lola EX265 sports prototype in the Le Mans Series of endurance races throughout Europe.
Next year the Bolton-based team hopes to take part in the Le Mans 24-hour race and will use this season to gain valuable racing experience. The next round of the 2011 Le Mans Series takes place at Silverstone on September 11 when the MG Lola, carrying the famous MG octagon logo, will fight it out for six hours in the LMP2 class against some of the top racing teams in Britain.
News of MG’s return to international racing was announced recently when Team RLR and the MG Lola visited MG Motor UK’s factory at MG Birmingham.
The MG Lola sat alongside the recently launched MG6 Magnette sports saloon and the MG6 GT fastback as details of the motorsport deal was announced.
NickReynolds, Team RLR team principal, said: “We have one of the best prepared teams in the Le Mans Series, and the support from MG will ensure that we can be even more competitive both on and off the track throughout the 2011 Le Mans Series season and beyond.
“The deal is a great fit for both parties due to the heritage and provenance of the MG Lola EX265, and we are excited to be working closely with such a famous and much loved car manufacturer. We look forward to repaying MG for its confidence in us by providing many exciting moments for the company and its huge number of followers in the races ahead.”
Guy Jones, MG Motor UK Sales and Marketing Director, said: “MG is delighted to be supporting Team RLR and the MG Lola EX265, which is such a famous car.
“The MG brand is synonymous with motorsport and with the new MG6 GT and Magnette models now in the market place we need to raise the profile of the brand. Supporting team RLR with the MG Lola in the exciting, high profile, Le Mans endurance series is a perfect fit for the brand and the team.”
MG Lola EX265 was part of a squad of endurance racing cars which were successful between 2003 and 2008; including two class wins in the Le Mans 24 Hours race in 2005 and 2006.

BMW reaches an agreement to sell the "Rover" brand name
The newspaper states that a spokesman for BMW confirmed a report in the German financial daily newspaper, Handelsblatt stating, "A binding agreement was made".
Although it seems like a done deal, BMW will need to obtain Ford's consent due to legal issues as the latter owns Land Rover -acquired from the BMW Group a few years ago. Basically, this means that Ford will give its consent only if the future owner of Rover's name strictly avoids any conspicuous connections with SUV vehicles.
